IRIS Newsletter
IRIS Legal Observations of the European Audiovisual Observatory reports monthly and free of charge on the most important legal developments for the audiovisual industry in 41 European countries. In more than 30 short articles, it provides a regular overview of what has been happening at national and international level in relation to legislation or court decisions in fields such as broadcasting, cinema, on-demand and communications services, and IPTV.
AVMSDatabase on the transposition of the AVMS Directive into national legislation
The AVMSDatabase allows interactive and multiple tagged searches across the national transpositions of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive 2010/13/EU (AVMSD) in the 27 EU member states. Each provision of the AVMSD is associated with the corresponding provision(s) of national primary legislations, so as to allow searches by article and/or by country. The AVMSDatabase will be regularly updated with the national implementing measures taken by member states to transpose the revised AVMSD (Directive 2018/1808), which was due to be transposed by 19 September 2020.
IRIS Merlin - Database on legal information relevant to the audiovisual sector in Europe
The IRIS Merlin database enables you to access more than 8 500 articles reporting on legal events of relevance to the audiovisual industry. These articles describe relevant laws, decisions of various courts and administrative authorities, and policy documents from more than 41 countries. They also report on legal instruments, decisions and policy documents of major European and international institutions. The articles include exact references to the original legal texts and, where possible, give access to them through hyperlinks.
LUMIERE - Database on admissions to films released in Europe
The database LUMIERE provides a systematic compilation of available data on admissions of films released in European cinemas since 1996. The database is the result of the collaboration between the European Audiovisual Observatory and the various specialised national sources as well as the MEDIA Programme of the European Union.
MAVISE - Database on audiovisual services and their jurisdiction in Europe
MAVISE is a free access database on television channels and on-demand services and licences in 42 European countries and Morocco. Managed by the European Audiovisual Observatory and supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, the MAVISE database is updated on a monthly basis. It provides individual data for TV channels and video-on-demand services available in Europe including detailed information as regards targeting, ownership and licensing. The customised result lists can be downloaded in EXCEL tables.
LUMIERE VOD - The directory of European works
This directory provides data on European works and their availability online through on-demand services. It contains data on over 68 000 European films and over 30 000 European TV season titles. This data has been taken from over 1 300 different VOD catalogues available in 31 European countries.
It has been launched by the European Commission with the European Audiovisual Observatory who is managing the project.
